The current short cruise begins near the Bajina Bašta Hydroelectric Power Plant and travels approximately eight kilometres in one direction toward the entrance of the Drina Canyon.

The route gives you views of the broad reservoir, the forested slopes of Tara, Džanići and the medieval Klotijevac Towers before reaching the beginning of the more enclosed canyon landscape.

The local 2026 program covers roughly 16 kilometres in total and lasts about two hours, giving it the strongest scenery-to-time balance for a normal day around Tara and Bajina Bašta.

3-Hour Lake Perućac Big Tour

Best for: travelers who want significantly more canyon scenery without crossing the border.

The longer local cruise travels much deeper into the Drina Canyon and toward the Bosnia and Herzegovina border while remaining a simpler excursion than the full Višegrad journey.

The current program covers roughly 48 kilometres and lasts about three hours. That makes it a strong middle option between the short sightseeing circuit and the ten-hour cross-border cruise.

Choose this when the high forested canyon walls are the main reason you came to Perućac.

What to check: seasonal operating dates, current water and weather conditions, route length and boat facilities.

Perućac-Višegrad-Perućac Cruise

Best for: travelers who want the Drina Canyon to be the main experience of the day.

The full passenger cruise travels approximately 52 kilometres from Perućac to Višegrad before returning along the same dramatic river corridor.

The current full route is approximately 104 kilometres and takes around ten hours including free time in Višegrad. Along the way the boat passes remote canyon scenery, tributaries, historical sites and the forested slopes around Tara.

Because Višegrad is in Bosnia and Herzegovina, this route includes border procedures and requires valid travel documentation.

Boat Through the Canyon and Return Across Tara

Best for: travelers who want both river and mountain scenery without cruising the same route twice.

A current mixed-format program travels from Perućac by boat through the Drina Canyon to Višegrad and then returns by road across the Tara area.

This changes the experience from a simple round trip into a circular sightseeing day: one direction follows the water while the return reveals the mountain landscape above it.

The format is particularly attractive if you enjoy scenic transport itself and want to compare the canyon from water level with the surrounding highlands.

What to check: exact transport combination, border documents, lunch, bus or minibus comfort and return time.

Kayaking, Canoeing and SUP

Best for: active travelers who want more freedom close to the lake shore.

Lake Perućac’s calmer reservoir water supports paddling activities including canoeing and stand-up paddleboarding, especially when you want to explore independently rather than follow a passenger-boat schedule.

The Tourism Organisation of Serbia specifically highlights canoe and SUP activity around Perućac, alongside swimming and other outdoor recreation.

This is a better fit for short local exploration than attempting to paddle the same distances covered by the long passenger cruises.

Tara National Park and Lake Perućac

Best for: travelers who want the lake as part of a larger nature day rather than a dedicated cruise.

Lake Perućac sits directly below Tara National Park, and some of the region’s strongest viewpoints look down over the emerald reservoir and the Drina Canyon.

Banjska Stena is particularly useful because it gives you the opposite perspective from a lake cruise: first see the reservoir and canyon from high above, then experience the cliffs from water level.

Current guided Tara adventures from Zlatibor and Užice include the wider national-park landscape and views toward Lake Perućac, although these are land-based nature tours rather than passenger cruises.

What to check: whether the itinerary actually descends to the lake, viewpoint walking requirements and how much time is spent around Perućac itself.
